The Department of Anthropology/Archaeology offers courses leading to Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees in Anthropology/Archaeology. Students seeking a B.A. in Anthropology/Archaeology are required to take a total of 16 courses (46 credits) from departmental offerings, 2 co-requisite math and lab-science courses (6 credits), and successfully complete the advanced level of a foreign language of their choice. Classes taken within the department will include a sequence of 12 required courses (34 credits) plus 4 additional elective courses (12 credits) from one of two areas of concentration, and electives.
Students seeking a B.S. in Anthropology/Archaeology are required to take a total of 19 courses (55 credits) from departmental offerings, 5 co-requisite math and lab-science courses (15 credits), and successfully complete the advanced level of a foreign language of their choice. Classes taken from the department will include a sequence of 12 required courses (34 credits) plus 7 additional courses (21 credits) selected from one of two areas of concentration (i.e., archaeology or bioarchaeology) and electives. Of these 7 additional courses, 3 must be lab-sciences.
Anthropology/Archaeology majors must maintain an overall 2.75 GPA and a 3.0 average in Anthropology/co-requisite courses. Students will be evaluated in the summer following their sophomore year.
