Outstanding In Our Field

MAI offers archaeological services of the highest quality to its public and corporate clients, specializing in high-resolution computer-assisted mapping and remote-sensing, geoarchaeology, forensic anthropology, artifact processing and cataloging, material culture analyses, conservation, drafting and illustration, photography, and desktop publishing. Our field services - widely considered to be the best available - include site location and identification, geomorphologic site assessment, site testing, evaluation of sites for National Register eligibility, historic structures assessment, site mitigation, and all other practices employed in contemporary archaeological research and cultural resource management studies.

These field services are complemented by proven expertise in the preparation of integrated research designs, archival and background research, material culture analyses, and high-quality reports of investigations. All work in any phase of investigation performed by MAI, without exception, is rigorously designed to meet the specifications demanded by the archaeological resource and set forth in our clients' work orders.

Specialized Services and Capabilities Survey, Mapping, and Remote Sensing

MAI uses the latest, most cost-effective technology available for its field survey and mapping activities. A Sokkia Set2Bll total station electronic mapping device equipped with an electronic field notebook is used to record high-resolution field data in a format which allows the production of computer-generated topographic, profile, and three-dimensional artifact distribution maps. Complementing these systems is MAI's remote-sensing capability, employing a computerized Geonics EM 31 soil conductivity meter which detects subsurface phenomenon and greatly aids in archaeological site prospection and excavation.

Both systems produce highly accurate maps and illustrations that can be returned to the site for field-checking with a very short turnaround time, proving both cost-effective and extremely useful in presentations and planning documents.

MAI also has full in-house capability for underwater reconnaissance, site characterization, and mapping in both archaeological and forensic anthropological investigation.

Our Work Is Guaranteed

MAI guarantees high-quality, reliable performance in all of its research activities. With years of experience in cultural resource management, our personnel employ rigorous field practice and modern, innovative techniques for site discovery and determination of site significance. We also possess the technical expertise and professional scope to conduct high-resolution, full-scale data recovery projects in any setting over all seasons. All cultural resource studies undertaken by MAI follow the Secretary of the Interior's Standards and Guidelines for Archaeology and Historic Preservation as well as all other legislative and professional guidelines.
