Geoarchaeology

MAI is concerned not only with the past's actors, but also with the stages on which they performed. Geoarchaeology, the scientific interface between archaeology and geology, is the means whereby the various backgrounds to the lifeways of antiquity are reconstructed. MAI offers a full range of geoarchaeological services, including sediment analysis, lithic and ceramic artifact sourcing and compositional studies, hydrologic studies, and full-scale paleoenvironmental reconstructions, to name but a few.
